August 3rd saw us at the beach with the Bryan family, one of our old clients. It was great to see them again after a few years. They hadn't changed a bit! We spent an hour or so on the beach and had some great fun. Thanks to everyone for the shoot and for the weather for coming up trumps!

We used a mixture of 70-200mm, 50mm 1.2 lenses with daylight and Elinchrom Quadra lights with a 70cm softbox.

Here are a few images from the day and we look forward to you seeing the rest.

Stunning set of images as always Brett. Are you still using off camera flash and pocket wizard's or have the Quadra's taken over?

All good here thanks, I'm loving all my shoots since seeing u, my works improved heaps, even my editing has changed, loving the punchier pics that jump out at u, makes my older stuff look a tad flat...! I'm actually being more assertive during the shoot too and 'acting' fully in control like I've been doing it all my life ;0) Cant thank u n Kris enough for sharing some of yr amazing knowledge.
Hope yr both well and not working too hard!!!...

Friday saw a full studio here at Brett Harkness Photography for our " Wedding Portfolio" course. Thank you to all who made it down for the day course. After an hour or so in the studio looking at some imagery and going through the wedding "method". We headed off to a local church , not only giving everyone a great chance to get some cool shots but also talking about method, settings & composition on the way!

Returing to the studio for lunch we then headed off to Manchester with our Groom & two brides! For some cool, funky location shooting. Here are a few images from the day. If you have any questions about the course you attended or any other BHP training courses please EMAIL the studio or call Kristie on 01706 340792.To read more about our new courses please CLICK HERE.

Dear Brett and Kristie
Thank you so much for a great day on Friday. I learnt so much (especially with my Eureka moment with my flash), and can't wait to put it all into practice at a real wedding. Everyone was so friendly, and there was a great atmosphere all day. I'm so proud of my photos that I took - I did bore my poor husband with looking at all 430 of them!!! I will send you a few of my favourites over in the next couple of days if that is OK.

Hi Brett and Kristie,

Just a quick mail to say thank you both very much for a fantastic and informative day, even if it was a little tiring!!!

Could you please pass my thanks onto the models for doing an excellent job and making my life that little bit easier.

Once again thanks and I look forward to attending another course with you (as soon as I can convince my husband that it I can not possibly manage without it).

Hi Brett & Kristie.
Thanks for a great day yesterday on your Wedding Portfolio Trg Shoot.
Besides learning allot more than I expected,, the atmosphere and other essential elements were great as well. I've already download the 765 photos taken, and only ditched 34, which is a record for me.
i'll certainly send you some of my favorites. see you again on another training day, that's for sure. Regards Mark.

Well, next tuesday we have been lucky enugh to be invited to a private drinks reception and rare interview/discussion with one of my all time favourite photographers, Don McCullin. I wrote about Don and his work for my dissertation at Nottingham Trent Uni back in 1995! I bumped into Don at a riot in London in 1993 and have loved his work every since.

This coming meeting has inspired me to post some of my own travel work from the past couple of years as a thank you for the inspiration that Don McCullin has given me over the years. Feel free to look though if you have 5 mins and leave a comment or a message if you have time.

This set are from the Il Palio horserace in Sienna/Italy.A fantastic race where the horses race around the town square, it is over in under 2 mins so you have to be quick!

Inspired by the visits to India from Don McCullin I first went to India during University back in 1994. I have since been back 4 times on different trips from 10 days-3 months. An amazing place that will forever remain in my heart & soul. You will see different images from different trips, using cameras from Leicas with film and Canone EOS 1ds mark III cameras which I now use. Regardless of the medium used I think the impact and the memories remain the same.

Here are some images from different trips:

Here are some images from a trip to Africa. We lived in a village outside of Niarobi for a couple of weeks. An amazing experience. We washed in the rivers with the locals and when we came to leave the villagers had clubbed together and bought us a crate of Delmonte pineapple chunks, a months wage but considered a great parting gift.
