Last week saw me undertake part 2 of 3 masterclasses for Amateur Photography Magazine. This one was on street documentary photography using just a 50mm lens. The images will be in the magazine in a couple of weeks. We looked at how to approach people, tips and tricks to use when you need to get the shot, composition, camera settings for maximum effect etc... We might introduce this course into our training programme if there is enough demand.Look out on Amateur Photography website on how to apply for the 3rd masterclass, and it's free!

Meanwhile here is one image from the day:Shot on Canon EOS 1ds Mark III, 160th sec @ f2.2

As one of the lucky ones to get on the class I can say that the day was fantastic. You should add this to your courses as you have so much valuable information and practical advice to give. That shot of yours is amazing, I wish mine were half as good!

Nice article - I basically never, ever take my 50mm off of my camera - apart from to put on (rarely) an 85mm.

Happy New Year to everyone from Brett Harkness Photography. We had a a great Christmas away in Canada, only getting down to -35c this year, pretty warm! and then on the way back we stopped off in New York for a bit of a party! We were also very fortunate to be doing a Pre-Wedding shoot there for a wedding we have this year, thanks to Danielle & Stewart for putting up with the cold of -15c and we can't wait for your wedding later this year.

I will be adding a few shots from their pre-wedding shoot this week. In the meantime here are a few shots taken whilst walking around the streets.Just a few snaps, I will be visiting NY again in the year for some designated shooting time.

Its probably a trade secret but i was interested to know how you go about processing your raw shots.

All your images have a fantastic feel to them with the colour and contrast.

Its all about the composition and setup but what kind of things do you do in the processing to breath more life into them. The colours look stunning. Love the night time shots and detailed stuff like the mustang above.
